Light X Reader Chapter 6

~Reader POV

You arrive home before the snow became bad and sling off your coat, hanging it neatly on the coat rack. You walk into the kitchen and open the refrigerator to check what you can eat for food. After examining the contents of the fridge, you pull out ingredients to make a [favorite sandwich]. Sitting at the dinner table, you turn on the TV and begin flipping through the channels for something interesting. Sakura TV comes on but you immediately flip to another station. You hate that show because of all lies they air to gain better ratings. You are about to flip to another channel when you hear the front door open.

"Matsuda! You're home! What's up?" You leap out of your seat and give Matsuda a tackle glomp, sending you both crashing to the ground.

"Whoa! Didn't expect that walking through the door. How are you [name]?" He gives you a quick peck on the cheek as he stands up and dusts himself off. He goes to the kitchen and throws his coat on the counter, plopping into a chair.

You sit in the chair opposite of him and place your elbows on the counter, face in hands. You notice he seems more tired than usual and it's evident he hasn't been sleeping well by the bags under his eyes. Instead of looking 25, he looked more like 35.

"How's the case been coming along? And why are you home? You usually don't come home for weeks on end."

Matsuda runs a hand through his hair and sighs. "Ryuzaki wants to go to absurd methods to catch Kira lately, more killings, people just disappearing; it's just been a lot lately."

You knew Ryuzaki was L because Matsuda had told you but you have never seen his face before. You usually don't like to pry into the case because it's none of your business but you feel like you have to because you've never seen Matsuda look so dejected.

"I know I'm not supposed to know about the case, but would it make you feel better if you told me what's been happening?" Matsuda gives you a wide eyed stare before lowering his head and sighing.

"You know I'm not supposed to reveal details about the case but thanks for the concern [name]. I'm just going to lie down in bed before the chief calls me again." He stands up and walks off to his room, shutting the door with a loud slam. You wince slightly at the noise and place your head on the cool marble counter.

"I wonder if I could help on the case. I mean I'm pretty good at analysis and deduction. But why would they want me? They probably would laugh at me and tell me to go home." You love to solve puzzles and riddles to strengthen your mental abilities and they succeed the abilities of an average girl. Deciding to make Matsuda some food, you turn your attention back to the neglected TV and pick up the remote to shut the box off when a news announcement makes you drop the remote in shock.

"The ruthless rapist Buotoko Gōkan-han who has been evading police for over three years has just been found in an alleyway near downtown dead. His would be victim said he dropped to his knees and collapsed, giving the woman enough time to escape. Police think he died of a heart attack. More details will come when we receive them," the anchorman says as a crowd of policemen attempt to control a growing crowd behind him.

You cover your mouth in shock as you think about what the anchorman said. Placing one hand on your heart, you whisper to yourself "Kira."
